"Fearless Girl should provide the spark to inspire more female engineers", writes Elizabeth Croft, Dean and Faculty of Engineering at Monash University. "Girls are natural engineers, highly capable in maths and physics. We need to show them that these tools can be used to design a better world. So far, we've done a poor job of communicating to girls the very powerful impact they can make through an engineering career." Croft continues, providing us with the inspiration to introduce the second of our new series of Women in Robotics Updates, featuring Elizabeth Croft, Helen Greiner and Heather Knight from our first "25 women in robotics you need to know about" list in 2013. There are 180 more stories on our 2013 to 2020 lists.

How Strong Is The Human-Robot Bond?

Undiscovered is a podcast from Science Friday and WNYC Studios about the left turns, missteps, and lucky breaks that make science happen. We tell the stories of the people behind the science, and the people affected by it. Listen to more episodes here. If you were given a robot and asked to break it, would you do it? The amount of Furby destruction videos on Youtube suggest it wouldn't be that hard.

It all started in a bar in 2014. Weary of watching his friends spend their nights swiping left or right on dating apps like Tinder, Justin Long of Vancouver decided to automate the process.

Joke-Telling Robots Are the Final Frontier of Artificial Intelligence

#artificialintelligence

A robot walks into a bar. "What can I get you?" the bartender asks. "I need something to loosen up," the robot replies. So the bartender serves him a screwdriver. This joke is about as basic as humor can get, and would probably merit only the most tepid of chortles at a comedy club.
